Hair Nation!

January 26, 2009

I am really surprised that all of the children of the '80s are not bald. The things we did to our hair were insane!

I mean how could we have thought the Flock of Seagulls look was cool.

Or how about when the lead singer of Bow Wow Wow had the sides of her hair shaved and then teased the rest up, like this.

And who can forget hair crimping.

I used to crimp my hair all of the time. I am surprised my hair doesn't look and feel like straw.

And no one could compare to Madonna.

Okay, I still think Madonna looked cool!

My craft for the day is to go along with today's topic of hair. I made myself a little Bow Wow Wow "I Want Candy" Hershey bar scissors case.

I will be able to keep my sharp, hair cutting scissors in here. Though I don't cut my own hair, I am known to trim my bangs every now and then. Yes, I still have bangs, though I no longer tease them!

  1. Very cute! I used to shave the sides of my head and have my longer top hair hang over it. One time in the 80's, I used temporary purple dye on my stylin' do before a concert. Unfortunately I passed out on my roommate's white sofa that night and awoke to, well, a purple sofa. Have you ever rented a steam cleaner (and listened to it run) while hugely hungover? Wow, that was one memorable 24 hour period! Thanks for the memories!

  2. Oh my goodness! From the look on Jodie Foster's face, she knows crimped hair is not one of the classic looks! If you're looking to cut your hair for a new do, I found these awesome Japanese shears at Salon Hive.

They've even got some videos with hair cutting techniques!
