You've disappointed me, Ravelry

I never want this blog to be anything other than fun, crafty posts. So, I have decided to forgo posting what I had originally written about this situation. But what I will say is that Ravelry has completely disappointed me. Why? They are shutting down my Conservative/Republican knitting and crocheting group, The Bunker.

This wouldn't bother me one bit if they decided to shut down all political groups, I mean it is a craft site after all, but this is not the case. Nope, only our Conservative/Republican one.

So to you Ravelry, I will be taking some time off from your site until I decide whether or not I want to continue crafting with you. I fear your actions are only the beginning.  "Change" is here,  and it is in the form of censorship.

  2. Yesterday was a very bad day. The censorship of The Bunker is exemplar of the "change" in our country. If you vocalize opinions that are deemed inappropriate, offensive, or dangerous to TPTB, they will shut you down. Goodbye, freedom of speech and freedom of assembly.

  6. I'd like to thank most of you for keeping your comments under control. I don't think this post was hateful or vengeful in any way therefore those kinds of comments were not warranted.

For those of you who left hateful comments, you are also privy to your opinion, after all that is freedom of speech is all about, but this blog is not here for you to attack me for my opinions. So please, do not come back here looking to pick a fight. This is a craft blog, for goodness sake.

And you could have at least had the decency to leave your name and not hide behind "anonymous".

  7. I am disappointed too. I still can't believe these things can happen, but obviously they can and do. Life does go on and I have found many friends in the meantime. Thanks to all of the Bunker mates! You are great!

  9. Oh no! I've only recently gotten on Ravelry, and haven't joined any groups or anything yet. This is so disappointing, and, yes, scary.

  10. I agree with knittyhorse - this is the second thing like this I've heard this week. *sigh*

  11. I'm far from being a conservative or a Republican, but it hardly seems fair to single out a political group in that manner.

  12. Well said. I am planning my post on my blog too.

  13. I agree with everything you said. I'm so disappointed about Ravelry. I was so happy to have found the site almost a year ago and I've enjoyed it so much, but the fun has gone out of it completely for me now.

  14. I am a bunkermate and now I feel so alone. Where can I go where it will feel evenly remotely as fun and interesting as the bunker was? *sigh* I should have known they would do that. It's easier to anger 600 conservatives who will do you no harm than thousands of lefties who will do everything in their power to tear down anyone who disagrees with them. So I understand why Casey decided who to punish!
