I believe this is the very first positive Valentine’s Day post for me that I’ve ever written!

This is truly a momentous occasion, especially if you remember my 2009 and 2008 Valentine’s Day crafts. Yep, a little on the dark side. But now that one of my New Year’s resolutions is to be positive in every aspect of my life, I decided to remain upbeat and actually craft an honest to goodness Valentine’s Day project! It helps too that I made my dark craft last month for the HPKCHC. 🙂

Checkout Girl’s Be My Bluebird

Checkout Girl’s (via Sew Mama Sew) Be My Bluebird pattern was the perfect project for my Valentine’s Day craft. I decided to not craft the bird and focus on the hearts. I also wanted to make a banner, so I tweaked it a little. What else is new?!

Not too shabby for my first Valentine’s Day craft!

The little hearts helped me practice my new favorite stitch, blanket stitch. I learned it over at A Bit O’ Shine. Thanks, Molly!
. . . . . . . . . . .

For this destash-along project I used 100% of my stash. The red felt was from Christmas, the white was leftover from my craft table redo, and the pink was a remnant bought several years ago at Joann Fabrics. I love getting to use my old stuff!

  1. Darn, I am jealous! I have the best of intentions, but I went to the flea market today and spent, a-hem, uh, money. Hey, I didn't go last week though and that was the really big one. Well, your hearts are adorable and I'll try and do better!

And I've found the perfect plate to display my bonbons on! So after my giveaway closes and I've announced the winners, I plan on blogging them! Thankyou so so much! I love them insanely, and my little doughnut pincushion!

  4. I like what you did with the hearts! Totally cute!!

As I always say Hurray for de-stashing! You are so far ahead of me. But I haven't bought any more "Stuff."

  6. I am being horrible about the de-stash projects but does it count that I'm not at home and therefore not crafting?
LOVE the banner (no goofy Valentine puns intended). And so happy to have introduced you to blanket stitch – I think it's my favorite as well.
