I am in full spring cleaning mode! I have completely cleaned and organized my entire downstairs, front patio, master bath, and bedroom closet. Can I get a Woo Hoo?! I am pretty impressed with myself especially since just a few weeks ago I was almost on death’s door with the flu and bronchitis. Boy does it feel nice to go home to a clean house.

I have also been knocking off a few of my 101 in 1001 items. The two I completed over the weekend were #26 – “throw away or donate clothes that don’t fit or have been in the closet for 5 years” and #28 – “organize or donate old magazines”.
For #26, I spent almost the entire afternoon on Saturday cleaning out my closet. Not only did I throw away or put in the donate pile several pieces of clothing, shoes, and purses, but I transferred my fall/winter clothes out and my spring/summer ones in.
Unfortunately, my master bedroom closet is super tiny. That was one of the negatives to buying my home, but I have a much bigger closet in the second bedroom. So, twice a year I transfer clothing from one closet to the other. Not only does it help me work out my upper body, but it also lets me weed out the stuff I no longer want or need.
I also get to let my OCD kick in. . .
Hee! I love having everything color coordinated. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stay like this too long, but I’ll enjoy it while I can!
The second project I completed was #28 – “organize or donate old magazines”. This was almost as difficult (and time consuming) as cleaning out my closet. I think I might be a borderline hoarder when it comes to magazines. I hate to throw them away because I might need something out of one someday. But, I bit the bullet and got rid of more than half of my stash.
If you have old magazines that you don’t want anymore, the best place to go to donate is to your local library. Mine has a stand where you can donate your old magazines and pick up ones other people have donated. It is fun, especially on the craft magazine days! Now you know why I have so many magazines. 🙂
For the magazines that I kept, I put them all in a wicker basket. I had seen a really cool wicker basket at Pottery Barn that I wanted to get, but the darn thing cost $40.00.
I found mine at Walmart for $6.00! Pay no attention to the incredibly wrinkled slipcover. I have been trying to get it to unwrinkle itself, but it doesn’t seem to be working.
Not exactly the same, but I saved $34.00!

  1. Well done on your organisation. It is amazing how a litle sunshine makes us more enthusiastic. I have started the same process myself but haven't done as well as you.

  3. You have motivated me! I've been wanting to do a little spring cleaning myself. Now I'm going to make the time. Great job! Doesn't it feel good 🙂 I love getting stuff like that accomplished.

  5. Oh what a laugh you gave me.

Your closet looks great…including the color coordinating!!!

I did that years ago after reading that it makes it easier to get dressed. My younger sister(16 at the time) didn't believe that I did it myself. She thought it "just" happened!! I could not convince her otherwise. LOL

    Blessings,
