If you’ve read my blog before you know that I love Ravelry (the crochet and knitting site). It is so great to have a place where crocheters and knitters can chat about their WIPs, favorite patterns, and other favorite things. If you crochet or knit and haven’t checked it out, please do. It is a lot of fun.
There are tons of groups to join, and I mean tons! I currently belong to eight, mostly crochet groups. I used to belong to over twenty, but it got to hard to keep track of them all. I’m much more comfortable with an even number of eight!
One of my new groups is Crime Show Knitters. What a fun group! We discuss our favorite crime shows and characters. Since crime shows are my favorite shows (NCIS, Psych, Burn Notice, Law & Order SVU. . .) this group is perfect for me.
Our group moderator has challenged the members of the group to crochet or knit something from a crime show. She gave us a choice of several characters and an item that might be used by that character. There were so many great ones to choose from (a pineapple for Shawn on Psych, a cloche hat for Nancy Drew, etc.), but, naturally, I chose something from NCIS.
My challenge was to crochet Abby a Caf-Pow cup cozy. Now that might sound pretty simple, but I actually had to make it look like Abby’s Caf-Pow cup. Yikes!
This is what the Caf-Pow cup looks like on the show:

Not an easy pattern. So, after contemplating between a crocheted pattern or using felt, I opted for the latter.

Well here it is, my very first cup cozy, NCIS-style:

I couldn’t get everything on the cozy, it just wasn’t big enough, but I did fit the logo on, which I think is the most important part. I crocheted the cozy and then added the logo, which is made out of felt.

I am really pleased by how it turned out. I hope my Crime Show Knitters group will like it, I know little Abby does!
